Lights, Camera, Action: Day Two at the WCTV Advanced Filmmaker Summer Program!

Hello Filmmaking Enthusiasts,

Today marked an important step forward as we completed day two of the WCTV Advanced Filmmaker Summer Program. The students took on the challenge of shooting a two-camera, three-act scene for their movie, and the results were impressive.

The scene was shot in three locations: a mad scientist's laboratory, a trek through the woods, and outside the door leading into the lab. In the lab, students used dry ice, chemistry sets, beakers, food coloring, and sugar-free Gatorade for different colored liquids to create a convincing and atmospheric setting. We also created one pretty sweet cyborg costume thanks to some mechanic’s gloves, a phantom of the opera style mask, and metallic-silver spray paint.

Six students acted in the scenes, immersing themselves in their roles. One student served as a sound technician, ensuring all the audio elements were captured perfectly. Another student took on the role of videographer, skillfully handling the camera to get the best shots. Another served as the director. Shooting on two cameras required careful coordination to make sure that neither was in the other's shot.

Every student played a significant role, and it was great to see them bring their vision to life with such dedication. Outside of a rogue hornet in the woods, it was a great day.

We look forward to seeing how these aspiring filmmakers continue to develop their craft. Stay tuned for more updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses of their journey!

Until tomorrow!
