Overview
A Summer Filmmaking Experience for Female-Identifying Students (Grades 4–8)
Apples in Action is WCTV’s empowering summer media program designed specifically for female-identifying students who want to tell stories, lead creatively, and bring bold ideas to life.
This hands-on program is built from the foundation of WCTV’s award-winning Young Filmmakers initiative — the same program that has helped students create original films, podcasts, scripted series, and live productions viewed by thousands across the community.
Over the course of the week, students will:
-
Learn the fundamentals of video and movie production
-
Explore podcast and show creation
-
Write original scripts and develop creative concepts
-
Direct and act in their own productions
-
Learn real editing skills using professional equipment and software
-
Produce content ranging from short films to shows to podcasts
Participants won’t just “learn about” filmmaking — they will create their own fully realized projects from start to finish, supported by WCTV’s experienced instructors in a collaborative, safe, and encouraging environment.
This program is designed to:
• Build confidence and leadership skills
• Strengthen writing and storytelling ability
• Increase female representation in media production
• Provide a safe space for creative expression
• Foster teamwork, collaboration, and artistic voice
Whether your student dreams of producing a podcast, directing a movie, starring in a series, or working behind the camera, Apples in Action gives them the tools — and the platform — to make it happen.
At WCTV, we don’t just teach media.
We empower creators.
NOTE STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO BE WILMINGTON RESIDENTS TO PARTICIPATE. FINANCIAL ACOMODATIONS AVAILABLE.
