*Discusses adult themes* For the better part of his life, basketball has been an all-consuming passion for Bobby Martin. Born and raised during the height of mob rule and the heroin and crack epidemics in Atlantic City, Basketball was Martin’s ticket to the great wide world. A high school All-American, he was a centerpiece of the top recruiting class in the nation when he signed with the University of Pittsburgh, where he played in the late 80s and early 90s. Once viewed as a sure-fire NBAer, Martin just missed on making The League after an injury-plagued senior year. He then began a journey of growth, exploration, reinvention and rebounding, which included nearly two decades as a professional overseas before returning stateside to begin coaching the next generation of players. In this series, Martin and WCTV Executive Director Sam Perkins will discuss the intersection of life and hoops.

But after nearly 20 years as a football coach, and surviving cancer, as well as racial injustice, brutality, and a worldwide pandemic, Kumin walked away from the sport, embraced his true self, and began the journey towards peace and the pursuit of happiness.

A former college star at Division II University of Alaska-Anchorage and at Division I University of Arizona, Martindale has spent the past two decades coaching at all different levels, including several successful stints as high school girls basketball coach, as well as college Division III women’s assistant coach, while also coaching middle school boys travel basketball. Along the way, she picked up a Massachusetts Division 3 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year Award. One of the few women to coach boys varsity high school basketball, Martindale joined the L.I.T. podcast to talk about her unique journey; her philosophy on mentoring and developing players; and her thoughts on evaluating talent, among other topics.

Antonio Bivins joined the L.I.T. Podcast to talk about his road-less travelled basketball Odyssey, which took him from un-recruited Miami high school hooper to then Division II UMass Lowell and finally, a single semester as a Division I athlete.
