Overview

Step into the next level of filmmaking at WCTV.

Rising Filmmakers is the perfect bridge between learning the basics and creating more advanced work. This program is designed for middle school students who are ready to build skills, try new styles of production, and start developing their own creative voice.

No prior experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to jump in.

 Daily Highlights:

Each day is split between skill-building in the mornings and creative projects in the afternoons.

Day 1 starts with the fundamentals:

  • Camera basics and how to shoot great video

  • Introduction to editing and how footage comes together

From there, each morning focuses on a different area of production:

  • Podcasting – audio, hosting, and studio setup

  • News Production – reporting, scripting, and on-camera presence

  • Screenwriting & Storyboarding – turning ideas into structured stories

Afternoons are all about creating.

Students will work on their own projects or collaborate in small teams—short videos, podcasts, news-style segments, or original stories—applying what they learned that morning in a hands-on, supportive environment.

On Friday afternoon, family and friends are invited to the WCTV studio for a special student showcase, celebrating all of the incredible work the kids have created throughout the week. We provide the tools—they bring the creativity.
