Overview

WCTV invites all  kids entering grades 3 through 6 to join us for an unforgettable week of filmmaking, imagination, and hands-on media exploration!

Whether your child is into movies, shows, art, design—or simply has an artistic or creative spark—this program is built for them. Each day will be filled with laughter, learning, and incredible opportunities to create original video projects using real, professional-grade equipment.

Our program blends structure with creative freedom, encouraging every student to take ownership of the creative process. We empower young creators to explore, experiment, and express themselves through video production. With support from experienced mentors, students will conceptualize, film, and edit their own original content, developing both technical fluency and storytelling confidence.

 Daily Highlights:

  • Students will learn the basics of professional equipment - mirrorless cameras, microphones, audio mixers, podcast and broadcast studios.

  • Students will learn the basics of editing in Adobe Premier Pro / Davinci Resolve.

  • Students will learn how to conceptualize, storyboard and script ideas.

  • Morning Themes like “Create Your Own Newscast,” “Talk Show,” “Podcast,” or “Green Screen Adventure.”

  • Afternoon Creative Labs give students more freedom to explore their own interests and create projects they care about.

Students will also have the opportunity to use WCTV’s state-of-the-art equipment, including mirrorless cameras, wireless microphones, and professional lighting. They’ll get a tutorial on our drone, work with our green screen, and get hands-on time in both our main studio set and our brand-new, state-of-the-art video podcast studio.

This is where creativity meets camera—a space where students get the gear, the green light, and the guidance to make something truly their own.

Led by WCTV Executive Director and Youth Director Sam Perkins, along with WCTV lead producer Elijah Li, youth program alumni JT Kilburn (a successful student filmmaker heading to film school) and many of our high school student interns, students will benefit from mentorship by experienced, passionate leaders. Additional staff will provide support, ensuring a maximum 4-to-1 student-to-staff ratio for personalized attention and support.

On Friday afternoon, family and friends are invited to the WCTV studio for a special student showcase, celebrating all of the incredible work the kids have created throughout the week. We provide the tools—they bring the creativity.
