Come one, come all
to the 2007 Candidate’s night here at WCTV!.
Oh, wait...we’re going to
Town Hall!

Due to technical problems caused by the flooding, we
moved to Town Hall.
Here’s our present-day
Portable Studio setup.

First on the agenda...
the races for the Wilmington
Housing Authority.
Cameras are in place,
and the host is ready.

Our second live broadcast
of the evening.
This time we hear from
the candidates for
School Committee.

We would not be able to
bring you these events
without the help of our
dedicated volunteers.
Dick Grinder checks his shot.

Stand by camera one...
WCTV volunteer and
Board Member
Walter Collings gets his
next shot ready.

Here is what it takes to bring a program such as this to those of you viewing at home. Volunteer Ron Buccheri makes sure the right microphones are on at the right time. Operations Manager Bill Robert directs our camera operators and punches up the right shot when needed.

Our special guest moderator,
Robert Hayes from the Friends
of the Library, explains the
ground rules to the
assembled candidates.

Also on hand are the local press: (left to right) Alexandra Mayer-Hohdahl
from the Lowell Sun,
the Town Crier’s Steve Bjork and Franklin Tucker of the Wilmington Advocate.

As the production angle gets
a bit more complicated, we
have more people ready in our
mobile control area.
Bill and Ron have been
joined by Mike Morrisey and Kaileigh Bernardo.

As Graphics Operator,
it is Kaileigh’s job to ensure that the graphic image
showing each participant’s
name is ready to go any
time that participant appears
on the screen, so we
can identify them visually.

Here’s how it looks on TV when it is all put together: our camera person’s
shot with Kaileigh’s
graphic superimposed.

Also pitching in on camera
this evening is long-time WCTV member Jim Durkee.
We need lots of people for
long nights such as this...

Getting ready to finish the
second of our three live
cablecasts. Time to change
out the cast and crew and
do it all over again.

We’d be remiss here if we were to fail to mention The Wilmington League of Women Voters. The League did a lot of the legwork and preparation, such as arranging candidates, finding moderators and going over the Candidates’ Night logistics.
With the help the League gives us, we concentrated more on technical issues. This was especially important this year
when we needed to coordinate the last-minute relocation of the entire technical operation. We thank the League for their help.
Pictured here is Odette Kent, a member of the League
who served as timekeeper for the evening’s events.

Two down, one to go...
The candidates for the Board of Selectmen get
ready to do their thing, and we get ready to do ours.
Once again we have take it live from Town Hall
to bring local viewers the third and final
Candidate’s Night event.

Town Moderator Jim Stewart
presides over this third and
final proceeding.

For the past couple of years WCTV, in cooperation with the Wilmington League of
Women Voters, has presented a Candidate’s Night, featuring candidates for local office discussing local issues. This year’s Candidate’s Night included those people vying for seats on the town’s Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Housing Authority.
Last year’s event was held in WCTV’s Main Studio, and the plan was to do so again
this year. However, the spring rains came and flooded our Control Room and Studio. Two days before the event, the decision was made to move the event to the Main Auditorium at Wilmington Town Hall. Undaunted, we took our show on the road.
